Ah. Life is good. The Sox swept the Yankees this weekend. And the best part of the whole thing is that the Yankees looked like a bunch of high school kids. Yay. This makes me very happy. But I’m a very well-mannered winner. I’ll just sit here contentedly and smile to myself, content to bask in the glow of good ball-playing. No theatrics – no brooms propped up against my cube, no defaced Yankees gear. Just a very happy feeling to look at the standings and see the Sox in first place, with the Yankees 4.5 games behind. Sigh.

This weekend was a very drunk one. I don’t quite know what happened. Wait, yes I do. On Friday it was the Sambuca that I started to drink about four High Life’s (Lives?) into the Sox game. And Saturday I’m pretty sure it was the Phlegm shots I was continually handed throughout the evening. Yes, it sounds gross, but there was melon liqueur involved and they were actually very tasty. Amazingly, though, there were no hangovers. Yes, I was a tad groggy for the first four or five hours I was awake, but no nausea, no dizziness, no headaches*. Just lots of hungover food cravings. You know, bacon, burgers, greasy bad-for-you food. Sunday morning we ended up going to Hot Dog Annie’s and getting 15 dogs for the four of us, then watching the game at J’s brother’s house. We were not the liveliest of crowds.

*It is extremely rare for me to get headaches. It's one of the reasons I know that I’m really honest-to-goodness sick. I’ve been very fortunate that way. I can only remember one headache when I was young – I must have been twelve or so, and I was sitting outside in the sun by the pool. I had a blinding headache, which I can only imagine must have been a migraine, and I actually vomited from the pain. Oddly, it went away shortly after I puked. So maybe it was something else altogether.

This is going to be a very busy week. My boss leaves on Friday for a month abroad (Australia – New Zealand – Japan – Hong Kong – India – London), and I’m doing all the prep for that trip for him. This Thursday a group of us from the office are going down to said boss’ house on the Cape for a team meeting, and we’re staying over Thursday night. And I’m doing logistics for that trip as well. And tonight I have to get my ass to iParty on Rt. 1 to get decorations for the pregnant boss’ baby shower during said team meeting. There is not enough time in the day.
