So. Much. Work to do. And I’m so exhausted. But just wanted to get up a quick recap of the weekend…Friday: It snowed! I got my hair cut and colored – the bangs are a wee bit too short, but they grow really fast, so I’m not too worried about it. As I knew he would, the new boy called at 4:30pm and asked me if I wouldn’t mind picking him up at the airport in the evening. He is SO into me… :D I worked at the pub from 5pm until 9pm, and it was absolutely dead. But I made $34 in tips on only $138 of food and drinks. Damn I’m good! As I was sitting around after work having my shift drink, one of the dj’s came over to talk to a few of us girls who were hanging out together. Funny story, and such an illustration of how men think – turns out he was working on Halloween (I wasn’t really paying attention), but he didn’t recognize me until I described my costume to him. Then he clearly remembered who I was. He and I ended up talking for a while, and, as it happens, we’ll be going out to lunch on Friday. I’ll let you know how that goes.
So I left the pub at 10:30p, went home and changed, and headed in to the airport to pick up the new boy (who will heretofore be referred to as “NB” until such time as a new moniker is warranted). I wasn’t exactly planning on staying in town, but he asked me to hang out and have some wine with him, and one thing led to another… Needless to say, I ended up spending the entire weekend with him, apart from three hours I took to run back home and get some things on Saturday afternoon.
Saturday: Watched the UVa vs. Miami game at his place. Had some more wine. Went to see I ♥ Huckabees. Went to Silvertone for a yummy late night dinner. Had my friend’s roommate tell me he wanted to kiss me but he didn’t think NB would appreciate it. Discussed scotch vs. bourbon, prayer, personal ads, and existentialism. Slept. Slept very well, actually.
Sunday: NB cooked me breakfast while I slept in. The only thing he absolutely wanted to do all day was watch the MLS Cup playoffs at 3:30. So what else could we do in the morning, but go shopping for furniture. Right? Obviously. (We’re so domestic! I did dishes not once but TWICE for him this weekend. And he got mad at me for it. Ha!) But seriously, he really needed to go get himself a coffee table – we were using a totally ghetto “box” with a piece of “wood” on top of it as a “coffee table.” And while we were there, there being Boston Interiors, he found himself a nice rug for the living room, too. The only thing that sucked was that the warehouse is closed on Sundays, so we couldn’t go get the stuff and bring it back. On the way back to his place we had some time to kill, so we swung by B&N at the Prudential Mall so I could get rid of a couple of gift cards I had laying around. Two knitting books and one Jet cd later (and EIGHT BUCKS for parking! Grrr…) we were on our way back to his place, where we curled up on the couch and watched D.C. steal the playoff game from Kansas City. I thoroughly enjoyed it, which came as somewhat of a surprise to me. We then continued to laze around on the couch and watched Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. I hit the road around 8:30p. NB’s out of town for the next two weeks – this week for business, next week for Thanksgiving in his home town. I don’t know what I’m going to do with myself.
Wait! Just a minute. Yes I do. As I previously mentioned, I have one date on Friday for lunch, and I have another date on Friday after I work the dinner shift. Then Saturday I’m working from 5 until close (cha-ching!). And on the school front, I have plenty to keep me occupied as well. I actually have an exam on Wednesday in Pathophysiology, which I’m supposed to be studying for right now (oops). Tomorrow night I have to compile a bunch of information for a group project we have due on Monday. But the best part is next week, when I only have class on Monday, and then I have SIX WHOLE DAYS OFF. In a row! And then I have two weeks of classes left after that and my first semester of grad school is done. Holy crap. I need to get to work…
PS: Good luck with JCAHO, Jason! You’ll do great, I have absolutely no doubt about that!
