* Update at the bottom!

So much has been going on lately, it's ridiculous. I honestly haven't had a moment to sit down and spill my thoughts. I've only got two weeks left this semester (next Monday is my last day of classes), and I've had so much work to do. Last week was crazy -- on Wednesday I had tickets to the Yankees game at 7pm, but I had to be up at 5am the next morning to be at the hospital for my second to last clinical day. Needless to say, I was the D.D. that night, and I wound up in bed by midnight, which wasn't too bad. Friday morning was the same deal, and then I partied with about a dozen and a half of my classmates, starting at 2pm. I can't even express how good it felt to be done with that Med/Surg clinical. My instructor was a fucking nightmare. Looking back, I can't believe it's already over, but boy oh boy am I glad.

Friday was definitely interesting. Our instructor let us go at noon, and we walked across the street from the hospital to the Paris Creperie for lunch. After that, we all decided we far preferred to go somewhere cheap over somewhere with atmosphere, so we quickly settled on the Beacon Hill Pub. We arrived at about 2pm, and I left around 7pm, somewhere in the middle of the group. Turns out NB came home Friday morning from Atlanta, sick as a dog. I decided to cut out early to go help him out. He had planned on going to the drug store while I was walking over to his place, but by the time I arrived around 7:30pm, he was still sitting on the couch. He honestly just didn't have the energy to move. So I went to the store and got him drugs, then picked up sandwiches for us, since I hadn't had dinner. Shortly after I got back to the apartment, NB spiked a fever, so he crawed into bed around 8:30. I spent the next hour changing cold compresses on his forehead every five minutes (and I thought I was done with my clinical at noon!).

I watched the end of the Sox game, and realized I was totally wired and totally bored. So I texted a friend of mine to see if he wanted to meet up after work, and at about 10:15 I headed over to the Playhouse Lounge in the theatre district to meet up with him. And who should I bump into, but Jason and his dad, who had just come from the Sox game. I ended up sitting down with them and chatting and having a few beers. It was really great to see Jack and catch up on what's been happening with him and his family in the last seven months. I realized though, after the fact, that I was way too sleep-deprived (on top of having been drinking for over eight hours) to have had a great conversation with either one of them. I get so freaking melodramatic when I drink -- I get really emotional. I teared up a little when I was telling Jason that I missed him. Not that I don't genuinely miss him, but I was a little over the top. And I think I kept repeating myself over and over again. I thought back on it the next day, and I was totally rolling my eyes at myself. But whatever. It was really nice to see Jack, and it was fun spending a couple of hours with Jason, and by the time I finally got myself to bed Friday night, I had been up for twenty hours. Waaaaaay too long.

I also had tickets to the Sox game on Saturday, and of course I invited NB, who has never been to Fenway before. I also planned to take my youngest brother, whose birthday is Cinco de Mayo (and it saves me from having to buy him a present), and he was bringing his girlfriend. All day, NB laid around in bed and hoped to feel better, but it just wasn't happening. So I ended up taking my dad instead. It was a great game, and it was fun, but I was sooo tired from the previous day that I didn't enjoy myself to the best of my ability. I got back to NB's just in time to catch the first half of SNL (Yay Tom Brady!), but I literally couldn't keep my eyes open after Beck's first set, and I crawled into bed just after midnight.

Sunday morning I had to go to school at eleven to meet with a group to go over a presentation we had to give yesterday morning. I had planned to stick around and work on a paper, but it was just too damn nice to sit inside in front of a computer, so I headed back to NB's place. I grabbed some lunch for us on the way, and I sat out on his back deck with a book and enjoyed the sun. At one point, he called my name, so I got up and stuck my head in the door to look at him where he was sitting at his computer in his bedroom. "How long have we been dating?," was the question. Huh? He repeated himself, and my answer was, "It'll be six months tomorrow." He looked up at me with this little grin on his face. "That's a pretty long time." "Yes, yes it is," as I smiled back at him and returned to the porch. Later on, as he was getting ready to go back to the airport, and I was getting ready to head out to dinner and pool with my best friend and the rest of his groomsmen, I walked over to him and asked for a hug. As he had his arms around me, he leaned down and kissed my ear. "Happy anniversary tomorrow." And then it hit me. I leaned back and looked up at him. "You knew! You knew, and you were testing me!" That grin again... "I had a pretty good idea." He's definitely a keeper.

Update: Thursday 4/21, noon: I passed my physical assessment exam. Yay! And it has been confirmed that while I do have a lot of Yankee in me, I mostly speak General American English. God only knows where the "Dixie" comes in, but henceforth I will be doing my very best to eliminate it.

Your Linguistic Profile:

45% General American English
40% Yankee
10% Dixie
5% Upper Midwestern
