It's a little bit of a puzzle to me how I managed to get through four years of honors English classes in high school, and a whole English MAJOR, for cripes' sake, in college, without ever reading Hamlet. The drought is over, though. Wednesday night, NB and I went and saw the Commonwealth Shakespeare production of Hamlet on the Boston Common. And, lordy, was it good. Who knew Shakespeare could be so entertaining? It was a gorgeous night, and it wasn't too crowded (we went on a Wednesday on purpose, so we couldn't have to fight over seating space -- anybody remember Carmen on the Common? Anybody?). The costumes were great -- modern day royal-wear (suits and gowns). The set was really cool, too, and the acting was superb. I had no idea Polonius was such a boob! Anyhow, I was actually surprised at how thoroughly I enjoyed myself. And, finally, my old English teachers need not be horrified any longer. I actually really want to read it now, too. Anyone have an old copy?

Things otherwise have been great, and busy. School is (STILL!) kicking my ass, and I'm (STILL!!!) a total slacker, but things are getting done. Slowly. Three more weeks of classes, and I am totally behind, but I'll figure it out somehow -- I always do.

I haven't really been posting, because I'm just enjoying myself too much right now. I went through about a three week period in July where I was in a little bit of a funk. It hit me one day like a ton of bricks that my sadness had a reason, and that it was okay to be sad, and that I would be fine. And then it was gone. And since then, I have been intensely happy. So happy it feels like I've got an over-inflated balloon in my chest. So happy I could cry, it feels so good. Despite all the school stress, the bachelor party-planning stress, the general life stress, I am just so unbelievably content. I've been spending time with my wonderful, amazing friends -- Lizz came home from Bush-land and partied with me and my family, NB and I spent a weekend on the lake with Mark and Karen (oh -- the bliss!), we've spent weekends with NB's friends visiting from hither thither and yon, and this weekend we're going camping with yet more of NB's friends. We're going to listen to great music and be smelly together (no running water -- yikes!). I honestly can't think of a better way to spend my weekend.

Oh! So much is happening! And there's so much I never post about. Like my new car (a nice little upgrade) and the date for my brother's wedding and my upcoming trip to Virginia and I'm finally meeting NB's family (holy. crap.) and I'm just so so so happy. So if you're wondering what I'm up to, you'll probably find out eventually if all you do is read this here blog. But life is good, and I'm loving living it right now.
