It's been a busy week! I almost made it through a whole year without getting sick, but it was not to be. NB had had a little stuffy nose last week, and he was over it in three days, so I thought no way was a going to get that wimpy little cold, when he'd had the full blown flu last winter, and I didn't even get a sniffle. Well, turns out I was wrong. Monday morning, I woke up and my left nostril was plugged, but it cleared up right away, and didn't come back, to I attributed it to the crappy heating in NB's apartment (seriously, it's either arctic or carribean in there -- no in between, and he really really needs a humidifier).

Tuesday was my last clinical rotation of my ENTIRE RN TRAINING -- woo hoo! -- and so I went out with a group of ladies when we wrapped up. During the day I was sneezing like crazy, and with each hour, I got progressively stuffier. I probably had one martini too many with the girls, but the plan was to leave at 5:30 or so to get to NB's for 6, since it was also his birthday that day (happy birthday, baby!). To make a long story short, one of my classmates ended up drinking way too much on an empty stomach, then puking and passing out in the bathroom, so we had to call an ambulance and get her taken over to the ER, and I didn't end up getting to NB's until after 7. Meanwhile, he was out trying to find a parking spot for his rental car, because he had to drive to Springfield the next morning for work. I laid down on the couch to wait for him to get back, and when I woke up an hour later, I was a slobbering mess. Everything was clogged, my brain felt like I was watching a movie in slow motion, and I was just generally miserable. You know, the miserable ickiness you get when you're sick and out of it (and the martini's didn't help that one bit). Needless to say, NB fed me and tucked me into bed at 9, and I felt awful for being such a lump on his birthday. So what did I do? I cleaned his apartment from top to bottom the next day. Guilt is an excellent motivator.

I spent yesterday in bed, writing Christmas cards and knitting up a storm -- I finished two booties, a bonnet, and the front of the sweater I'm making, and started up on one of the sleeves -- and I woke up this morning to snow on the ground. Today I have to make myself do schoolwork (final exam for Advanced Pharmacology -- yay!) if I hope to have any time to myself this weekend, especially seeing how my day tomorrow is almost totally swallowed up by my review course. I can't believe my semester's almost over. One more week and I'm free!
