This is, quite possibly, the most important week of my career to date. Today I have a midterm for my Primary Care Theory class, which is one of only two exams this semester. We're covering tons of material -- depression, hypertension, coronary artery disease, abnormal pap smears, anything and everything ear, nose and throat -- you name it, it's on this exam. And guess what! I'm totally unprepared. What else is new? It's just that I've been putting all my time into studying for my nursing licensure exam, which seems just a wee bit more important at this juncture. A lot of people have been bitching that the program doesn't really seem to acknowledge the fact that we're doing more than just taking classes this semester, that we're actually trying to pass the NCLEX. Anyhow, I'm taking the exam on Friday, so wish me luck -- I really don't want to have to pay the $175 to take it again...

And then it's off to beautiful St. John! But I've told NB that I'm really not even going to think about it until I walk out of the exam on Friday. It's serving as a reward for taking my exam, and I don't get to reward myself until that happens. But secretly, I'm totally looking forward to it. With this freezing weather we've been having, it will be nice to get myself to a place where I only have to wear one layer (as opposed to the three or four I've been wearing the last few days).

And in the Sambuca corner, he's growing like a weed, and he's learning every day. He knows "off" and "sit," though he doesn't necessarily realize he has to comply every time. He definitely knows "no," and housebreaking is doing okay -- we've had a little setback this week, though. Turns out my six-pound dog doesn't feel like pooping outside when the wind chill is -8. I have a hard time blaming him for that. So, while he's been peeing every time I take him out, he's been reserving the poop for the emergency pee pad I leave in his room. I'm okay with that for now. He'll get the message that he needs to go outside when the weather gets warmer.

He absolutely loved socializing with all the family that was here last weekend for Steve and Mary's engagement party, and this past weekend we spent with daddy in Boston, and he made TONS of new canine friends. Turns out NB lives in a very small neighborhood with a couple dozen dogs, and every time we went out, Boo got to meet a new one, which is great for him. He seems to be really friendly, and takes other dogs' cues if they seem scared or aggressive. Mostly he just wants to play, so I can't wait until he's old enough to take him to the pug group that gets together every Saturday morning. God, I'm such a mom now! I just love him so much. And here's a picture from last weekend after the party. So scrumptious, I just want to eat him up!
